Products in CSD's discount category are reduced in price for one of three reasons. Short dated stock, products approaching their expiry or use by date that are still fully within specification and safe to use for research within the remaining window. Overstocked inventory products ordered in larger quantities than anticipated demand, requiring clearance to make room for incoming stock. Promotional pricing, selected compounds offered at reduced prices as part of periodic promotions or new product introductions. In all cases, the discounted product is the same independently tested compound as the full price version. Only the price has changed, never the quality standard.

Short dated compounds | What you need to know

Short dated compounds are products that are within their manufacturer stated use by window but have a shorter remaining shelf life than standard stock. For lyophilized peptides, the remaining shelf life in lyophilized form is the relevant consideration. Once reconstituted, use within 28–30 days regardless of the vial expiry date. For oral tablets and capsules, the manufacturer expiry date reflects the period of guaranteed potency; compounds do not typically become unsafe after this date but potency may gradually decline. For injectable oil based compounds, expiry dates reflect the period of guaranteed sterility and potency in the sealed vial. Researchers should assess remaining shelf life against their research timeline before purchasing short dated items.
